JOSE CARLOS GRUBISICH APPOINTED RHODIA VICE PRESIDENT,
RESPONSIBLE FOR "GLOBAL CHANGE INITIATIVES"


Paris, May 11, 2000 – José Carlos Grubisich has been appointed Vice President of Rhodia, responsible the Global Change Initiatives. As member of Rhodia's Executive Committee, he will continue to supervise the Manufacturing & Technology Functions and of Global Purchasing Operations, and to assume his responsibilities as President of the Latin America Zone.

Rhodia is committed to a process of rapid change program aimed at improving its global performance and reaching its targets for creating new value. This process is being achieved through Rhodia's Global Change Initiatives, which José Carlos Grubisich will be responsible for coordinating while ensuring their implementation, coherence and deployment within the Group.

Rhodia's "Change Initiatives" share three complementary objectives:

· To change management processes, through the definition of a 5-year strategic plan, the identification of Key Value Drivers, and the close supervision of action plans.

· To enhance expertise and operational performance, in order to improve, on a permanent basis, our industrial performance (the Global Initiative, "World Class Manufacturing"), optimize and professionalize purchasing (the Global Initiative, "Bingo"), as well reducing fixed costs and improving the functioning and competitiveness of the support functions at every level of the organization (the G hlobal Initiative, "Jump")

· To launch the dynamics of organic growth, through commercial excellence, so as to improve the efficiency of our sales forces and marketing structures through the adoption of new systems, methods and "world class" tools in this area.

José Carlos Grubisich, 43, a brasilian chemical engineer, is graduate of the Oswaldo Cruz Chemical College in Brazil. He bagan his carreer in Rhône-Poulenc, where he had successive marketing, business and Vice-Presidence responsabilities in different entities of the Group. Since 1997, he has been Chairman and CEO of Rhodia in Brasil and Rhodia’sVice President for the Latin America Zone.
