Strategy
Concentrating on activities where we hold sustainable leadership positions, Rhodia now ranks among the leading chemical companies worldwide.
Rhodia is focusing on four growth platforms:
Polyamide - upstream in intermediates and polymers and downstream in engineering plastics,
Novecare - high performance solutions notably based on surfactants, polymers and phosphorus derivatives for selected market segments,
Silcea - high-performance silicas, rare earth-based compositions and diphenols
Energy Services - energy supply and management and greenhouse gas emission reduction
The Group is also taking advantage of the consistently successful performance of the Acetow (cellulose acetate tow) and Eco Services (regeneration of sulfuric acid) businesses to generate profitable growth.
Rhodia is committed to providing customers with solutions that meet their needs in terms of performance and sustainability, who gain real benefits from the Group’s worldwide network of R&D and industrial sites.
At our strategic core is the desire to grow our strong geographic presence in high-growth markets, from where 44 percent of our sales originate.
For example, Rhodia has increased its production capacities in Asia-Pacific, inaugurating new facilities for diphenols in China and polyamide in South Korea, and is involved in targeted acquisitions to strengthen its product offer, such as the 2007 purchase of the W.R. Grace group’s alumina business.
Underpinning our strategy is the Group’s commitment to sustainable development. This is especially apparent in our safety results, where we rank among the best chemical companies in the world.
With one-third of our sales generated from products that satisfy new sustainable development requirements, we are responding swiftly and effectively to our customers’ demands for more sustainable solutions.
Our company wide approach to sustainable development is also strengthened by the Rhodia Way policy, a responsibility reference framework which enables each entity in the group to evaluate its behavior and performance toward six stakeholders - shareholders, employees, customers, suppliers, the environment and local communities.
