Rhodia and Dupont jointly invest 300 million euros in PolyamideNews release
Paris, November 25, 1999 – Rhodia and DuPont announce today the increase in nylon intermediates production capacity of their joint venture Butachimie. Around 300 million Euros (FRF 2 billion) will be invested over 4 years.
This investment in two steps will increase the plant capacity in producing adiponitrile (ADN) by 70% and in producing hexamethylene diamine (HMDA), a downstream product of ADN, by 50%. It aims at securing Rhodia and DuPont the ADN supplying in Europe, enabling the companies to meet the regular growth of the European polyamide market demand, due in particular to the automotive market trend.
The introduction of a new DuPont technology will also allow to increase the productivity and to better preserve the environment, in order to meet Butachimie policy effect to steadily reduce the amount of waste water and gas emission.
This major investment in the Butachimie Chalampé plant will have a strong impact on the local economy.
